SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse (BW) allows Partners to develop and deliver Content (aka as Business Content) to SAP customers. Content is a pre-configured set of role- and task-relevant information models based on consistent metadata in the SAP NetWeaver BW. This information model includes integral roles, workbooks, queries, InfoSources, InfoCubes, Data Store Objects (DSOs), InfoObjects (key figures and characteristics), update rules, etc. and extractors for SAP Business Suite, and other selection of third party applications.

By using SAP HANA database as database for SAP NetWeaver BW, you have greater flexibility and more possibilities to improve performance of the data load processes, running reports tec.. BW Content objects (like InfoCubes, DSOs, Integrated Planning objects) can be optimized to use SAP HANA database and these “In-memory” optimized object can be certified. The following objects can be delivered:

The following guidelines must be followed to completed BW content powered by SAP HANA certification:

  • Acquire an SAP NetWeaver BW application developer user license
  • Acquire an SAP HANA application developer user license
  • Register your unique namespace on SAP Service Marketplace
  • Develop BW content using your registered namespace
  • Subscribe to the SAP ABAP Service Package granting license to the Add-on Assembly Kit
  • Sign an ABAP certification agreement for BW content you wish to certify

To develop BW content, Partners and ISVs need to apply for custom namespaces from SAP via SAP Service Marketplace. These namespaces are SAP-exclusive identifiers that enable SAP, SAP customers, and Partners/ISVs to develop components and products without the risk of naming collisions. Namespace registration can be performed online after the purchase of the user license(s).

SAP requires that you use the SAP Add-on Assembly Kit (AAK) to package BW content, and strongly recommends that you use the toolkit throughout the development cycle. Syntax and consistency checks for BW content are done using the AAK. Additional checks are done by SAP consultants during the certification procedure. The AAK tool is available as part of the ABAP Service Package for third-party ABAP solutions. Please refer to ABAP Add-on certification page for further details.
